About

Pes anserinus bursitis is a condition where the fluid sac that sits below and to the midline of the knee joint becomes compressed and inflamed. A bursa is a lubricating sac of fluid that prevents friction between two surfaces, but if there is too much pressure on it then it will become inflamed. The inflammation becomes present to try to remodel the bursa to withstand this extra pressure, however, this can create even more pressure which leads to pain, discomfort and potential limitations in movement. In this case, the bursa prevents friction between the shin bone and the point where the semitendinosus, gracilis and sartorius tendons all meet to form one common tendon. The key to successful treatment is to decrease this pressure by reducing tension through the tissues and giving the bursa the time it needs to remodel itself. The Heal My Injury Treatment Plan aims to decrease this pressure by reducing tension through the tissues and giving the bursa the time it needs to remodel itself.
