About

In your spine, the joints connecting each of your vertebrae are known as facet joints. The job of the facet joint is to enable healthy movement. Facet joint irritation/syndrome is pain caused by compression, stress, or sprain to the facet joint and/or its surrounding capsule. This can cause inflammation to become present in the joint itself, as well as spasms that are there to try and protect you from further damage. If the joint is compressed or swollen enough, it can also impinge on your nerve causing pain into your shoulder, arm, and hand. When this occurs, symptoms in your arm can include weakness and sensations such as sharp, shooting, or aching pains, numbness, pins and needles or tingling. The image demonstrates the function of facet joints. Through a series of gentle exercises, The Heal My Injury Treatment Plan aims to reduce the compression, the inflammation and resulting pain.
